I was asked to create an illustration based on the brief of simply the word ‘Together’ that would be used on a tote bag. This was in collaboration with the brand Snow Paw UK, with all proceeds from the sale of the tote bags going towards providing PPE to medical staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was one of five designers and illustrators that created illustrations.
This illustration was inspired by and demonstrates how people across the world and from different walks of life are coming together and being united in our shared experiences when dealing with the current situation in which we have been placed. This is done by using a range of colours, also inspired by the rainbows that are being displayed in support of our wonderful NHS, overlapping the colours and using them to create intertwined paths. This chaotic but harmonious shape conveys the mix of emotions that we have all experienced when trying to cope with our new current way of life. The shape begins with a single, narrow path, symbolising the narrow minded attitude we can often have on situations and of others, and also closes with a single path, which has been done to symbolise how we will come out of this as (hopefully) a more unified body of people.
