All For One

All For One was a project that I worked on during my 4th year of university. It was a response to a live brief that was given to me by external industry designers from Front Page, a design agency in Glasgow. Three words were selected at random: ‘Festival’, ‘Families’ and ‘Inclusiveness’, and from these words, I was to arrange a brief and produce a design response, which resulted in the creation of All For One.

After conducting thorough research into families in modern society, what ‘family’ means, communicates, inclusiveness and feeling included and excluded, I became more aware of how diverse our world is today. Towns, cities and communities are more diverse than ever before, with a huge mixture of families from different backgrounds, religions and make-up residing in the same areas. Research showed a great deal of families that move to new towns or cities struggle to feel included or as part of a community due to their new surroundings and unfamiliarity with the area, the people, and their culture. So I began to look at things that connect us all, regardless of differentiating factors, and began to focus on food; our means of survival, but something that lies at the heart of so many cultures and is such an important part of family life, is at the heart of so many social gatherings and brings people together.

And so, I created All For One; an annual food-based, community-centred festival that takes place in towns and villages with the aim of helping families feel more included within their town and community.

“Feeling included within your community as an individual and as a family can be extremely beneficial to your wellbeing, so we are here with the aim of bringing families together within their community to celebrate and enjoy all that your town has to offer in relation to food, drink, produce and other yummy goodies at our ‘All For One’ Festival. Our wonderful festival concludes with a celebratory sit down meal with your fellow townsfolk; a chance to slow down, come together, share meaningful conversation, and appreciate one another. You and your family are encouraged to create and bring along a dish of your favourite food to share with the rest of your fellow townsfolk. “

I created all of the illustrative, typographic and animated branding for the event, and created marketing materials in order to promote the event, which included posters, invitations, website design, event-related sellable items and social media assets.
