This digital illustration of Kelburn Castle was a commissioned piece that was created to be given as a favour at my brother's wedding that took place at Kelburn Castle.
I took a stylised approach to this illustration, taking inspiration from the incredibly creative paintings displayed on Kelburn Castle itself, as well as illustrations by Scottish illustrator David Galletly. I wanted this illustration to look hand-drawn and imperfect, which I did by free-handing the line work throughout the piece and embracing the odd imperfect shape that was produced.
As this piece ended up being extremely content heavy, I decided that a more muted and soft colour palette would help balance the detail. You will also see a window study that I created in the process of this piece which I think works well as a minimal illustrative piece.
